Bay Harbor Islands spans Kane Concourse leading from 96th Street to 123rd Street in the mainland Miami across the Broad Causeway. Bay Harbor consists of two Islands. The West Island with 103-acre is occupied entirely by luxurious large single-family homes. Some of the waterfront homes have a magnificent view of Indian Creek Island or Haulover. The East Island with 150- acres is home to condominiums and a commercial area of medical offices, fashionable shops, art galleries and restaurants. 

The town is seeing its first new condominium development in decades. A highly regarded elementary school serves the surrounding communities. Today, the Town's population is approximately 5,100. Shepard Broad died November 6th, 2001 at the age of 95 in his home on Bay Harbor Islands.
